Barring skipper Virat Kohli, no other batsmen has shown any desire or application to hang around. Be it the top-order or the middle-order, none of the batsmen ever managed to get going. Sourav Ganguly has been donning the pundit's hat in the ongoing series and lashed out at the Indian batting unit. The former Indian skipper stated that although the conditions on offer are tough, the batting has been poor. He then added that India's batting looks claustrophobic in conditions that aid swing and seam. Lack of confidence and poor technique have cost Team India.
Gavaskar feels lack of preparations have cost the side
In a column written for The Times of India, former legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar stated that both the inept technique and fragile temperament were exposed at the Lord's Test. Gavaskar was quick to note that the lack of red-ball training and preparation is evident against the seaming conditions across all three innings. The television pundit also heaped praise on James Anderson in particular.

India are on the verge of going 0-2 down in the 5-match series. After a 31-run loss in the first Test, the visiting side trail England by 250+ runs and the lead could gain significance on Sunday. Another batting failure might cost India the series.
