Gautam Gambhir urges India to maintain aggressive cricket in ODIs
What's the story
India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has asked the national team to keep up the aggressive approach in ODIs.
This comes after India's thumping 150-run victory over England at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
The win clinched a dominating 4-1 series win for India in the five-match T20I series.
Gambhir stressed on the need to keep up the momentum ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, starting February 19.
Coach's perspective
Gambhir's vision for entertaining cricket
Gambhir, who was a pivotal part of India's 2011 World Cup win, said he wants the team to entertain fans with their performance.
"Just try and play as aggressively as we can. I think that we want to entertain the crowd," he said.
His words indicate a promise of an exciting, high-risk style of play, irrespective of the format.
Upcoming matches
India to face England in ODI series
Before the Champions Trophy, India will play a three-match ODI series against England.
This comes after a disappointing show last year when they couldn't win a single ODI in three attempts.
None of the Indian players made it to the ICC's ODI Team of the Year for 2024.
They will face England in the first match on Thursday, February 6 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.
Team update
Kohli and Sharma to rejoin ODI setup
Gambhir also announced the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to the ODI setup, after a long time.
He called them "two quality players" with an amazing record in one-day cricket.
The coach hoped they would add positively and aggressively to the team's performance.
This update only adds to the excitement for India's upcoming matches in ODI series against England and Champions Trophy.
