Gambhir led KKR from the front in IPL
Gambhir enjoyed his best time in the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders. He moved to KKR from the Daredevils in the IPL 2011 auction. He was made the highest paid cricketer in IPL history back then. Gambhir was also named as the skipper of the team. He led the side from 2011 to 2017. Under his leadership, KKR won two IPL titles.
JSW bought 50% stake last year
Meanwhile, JSW bought 50% stake in the side for Rs. 550 crore last year. It changed the name of the franchise from Delhi Daredevils to Delhi Capitals. The team went on to finish third last season after being highly inconsistent over the years.
Gambhir was a consistent force for KKR
Gambhir moved to Delhi in 2018 and was dropped as their skipper with Shreyas Iyer taking over midway in the season. He had amassed just 85 runs in six matches. However, he showed his mettle before that and scored at will. He was a consistent force for KKR and led the side from the front. The players also gave their best under his leadership.
