#GamingBytes: A roundup of E3 2019; Halo, Doom, FIFA return
Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is one of the most exciting events for gamers where organizations showcase their up and coming games. Its 2019 iteration saw the announcement of a number of titles from major publishers including Microsoft, Bethesda, Nintendo, EA, and more. This time, multiple classics like Halo and Doom are making a return. Read on to know the games showcased in the event.
Keanu Reeves and other prominent highlights from the event
CD Projekt Red unveiled the release date for the highly awaited Cyberpunk 2077 in a trailer that featured an animated Keanu Reeves. Ghostwire: Tokyo, a survival horror game, was announced by Bethesda, Arkane Studios announced Deathloop and Ubisoft announced Watch Dogs Legion. Other intriguing games include The Outer Worlds, Baldur's Gate 3, Darksiders Genesis, Square Enix's Outriders, and a new Avengers game.
Microsoft made some big announcements
Last year, Microsoft did not have much on offer but this time, it's different. The tech giant announced some really impressive games including the likes of Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 4: Lego Speed Champions Expansion, Gears 5, Blair Witch, and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Most of these games will run on Microsoft's next-generation console 'Xbox Project Scarlett' that will release soon.
Classics including Doom, FIFA, and Contra are making a return
Some games are so great that they're now considered cult classics. A few are making a return in the coming months. These include titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and Link's Awakening, Pokemon Sword and Shield, Resident Evil 5 and 6, Battlefield 5, FIFA 20, Rainbow Six Quarantine, Contra Anniversary Collection, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Doom Eternal.
New offerings from major publishers and Sony's absence
Sony's absence from the event was a talking point but the company is probably focusing on next year's PS5. The event saw some new offerings in the form of Apex Legends Season 2, Borderlands 3, Fallout 76: Nuclear Winter, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Cyberpilot (VR), Final Fantasy 7, 8, 14, Watch Dogs Legion, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Dragonball Z: Kakarot, Elden Ring, and Sniper Elite VR.
Google announced crucial details about Stadia
While Google was absent from the actual event, it did announce major details regarding its cloud gaming service, Stadia, some days prior to the E3. Stadia will launch in 14 countries including the US, Canada, and Ireland this November. Gamers can pre-order its "Founder's Edition" for $130 upfront (including controllers and other hardware) for first three months. It'll subsequently cost $10 per month.
