Dominic Thiem stuns Novak Djokovic: List of records broken
Novak Djokovic's quest for a 16th career Grand Slam and a fourth successive one came to an end. The world number one was beaten by the 25-year-old Dominic Thiem in the semi-finals of the French Open 2019. Thiem managed to seal the victory in five sets, as he would meet Rafael Nadal in the final tomorrow. Here is the list of records broken.
How did the match pan out?
The match was halted on Friday due to rain with the score reading 6-2, 3-6, 3-1. Thiem started the proceedings well on Saturday and kept in sync with a rejuvenated Djokovic. The fourth seed pocketed the third set 7-5 to take a 2-1 lead. Both players broke each other in the fourth set, before Nole forced a decider. Thiem then clinched the fifth one.
Djokovic misses fourth Slam final in a row
15-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic was eyeing to hold all four slams for second time in his career but Thiem crashed his hopes. He won the Wimbledon and US Open in 2018. And in 2019, he started off by winning the Australian Open. Today's match saw Djokovic blasting at the umpire, as he said, "Well done, well done man. You've earned yourself a name."

A look at the stats for Djokovic
This is Djoker's 42nd career loss in a Grand Slam. He now has a tally that reads 265-42. This is also Djokovic's 14th career loss at the French Open. He won his first and only final here in 2016. The 2016 French Open winner lost in the semis for the fifth time. He has the third most number of Grand Slams in the history.
French Open: Thiem sets up Nadal show
The 2019 final will be a repeat show of the 2018 event. Last year, Rafael Nadal had beaten Thiem here in straight sets. This time Thiem will look for a better show against the King of Clay. Thiem has a 19-5 record at Roland Garros with this win. This was also his 49th victory in Grand Slams.
A look at how the head-to-head meetings shape up
This was the ninth career meeting between the two tennis stars. Djokovic, who entered the game with a 6-2 tally, saw Thiem pull one back (6-3). This was their second career meeting at the Roland Garros. Interestingly, both these meetings came in the semi-final. Djokovic had beaten Thiem back in 2016 French Open by a 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 margin.
