#GamingBytes: Fortnite Winter Royale tournament to be open to all
Fortnite has already established itself as one of the most popular Battle Royale games. Now the studio, Epic, is trying to make a mark in the competitive eSports platform as well. To this extent, it had already announced the Fall Skirmish. With it ending, it has now outlined plans for a Winter Royale tournament, which will be open to all. Read about it here.
All details about the Winter Royale
The Winter Royale tournament will be a solo tournament across Europe and North America, so players have to compete alone. Hosted through the tournament system of Fortnite, it will have qualifiers and final rounds. The qualifiers are on November 24 and 25 while the finals for Europe are on November 30 and December 1. The North American finals are on December 11 and 12.
Tournament progression system
Players will enter lobbies with other competitors and will be awarded points based on eliminations and high finishes. Those with the highest points in the qualifying rounds will progress to the finals where they will compete for a $1 million prize pool. Expect the qualifiers to be highly competitive as it is open to everyone and gamers will be aiming for the big prize.
A slight confusion in the Finals
Since Epic has not clarified yet, we do not know if the Finals will have separate lobbies of hundred players each for North America and Europe, or if it will opt for several lobbies, that will narrow down as the tournament progresses.
An epic entry into the eSports scene
Although Winter Royale will only be playable by North American and European players, Epic will introduce other tournaments across multiple regions to test their system in various areas. Moreover, this Winter Royale will serve as a test run for the much bigger World Cup event Epic is planning for next year, where players across the globe will compete for the ultimate Victory Royale.
