#GamingBytes: 'Fortnite' season 9 coming soon. Know all about it
The most awaited news is here. The 9th season of Fortnite is coming soon, as developers have confirmed that the new Battle Pass is just around the corner. Season 9 will likely begin in not more than a few days and is expected to bring new skins, challenges, and possibly a new map for the players. Here's what we know about the upcoming season.
The release date has been finalized
Players were expecting Fortnite season 9 to release on May 9 because of an in-game countdown. In a recent blog post, however, Epic Games suggested that the season will actually release a day earlier. "We wanted to give everyone a heads up that the Account Merge feature will be coming to an end on May 6, two days before Season 9 begins," it said.
The story of the mysterious helmet
While no new skins for the upcoming season have been released, fans have an idea what they might look like. During the Unvaulting event, a desk appeared. Players spotted a mysterious helmet kept on it, the files for which were added with the recent 8.51 patch. There is a possibility that it's part of a Fortnite season 9 skin (tier-1 or Ruin equivalent).
What is Unvaulting in 'Fortnite'?
It was an in-game event in season 8 where players could choose to unvault a lost item. Key locations like Tilted Towers and Retail Row, however, faced some repercussions. Fortnite gave away an expensive glider to players who couldn't watch the event because of glitches.
Does the new season come with a new map?
Fans have been asking for a new map since a long time now. It was being speculated that Fortnite will finally release a new map with the upcoming Battle Pass. Epic Games has also mentioned in the Fortnite FAQ page, that new maps are being readied. As for the existing map, it seems they're going to make improvements and add more points of interest.
When will the new challenges release?
Because week 1 challenge set usually launches with the new season, it is likely that season 9 challenges will be out on Wednesday, May 8. That is unless Epic Games decides to launch them on Thursday. In that case, players should see servers go down on Thursday around 12:00 IST. There's also news of the Tilted Towers and Retail Row being destroyed.
