#GamingBytes: 'Fortnite' Season 7 teases first look, reveals release date
What's the story
Fortnite by Epic Games enjoys immense popularity in the Battle Royale genre. This is due to the exciting content it keeps adding.
Season 6 was memorable as the mystery of the Purple Cube kept players guessing and was resolved by an inter-dimensional butterfly. Fortnite also added zombies during Halloween.
Now Season 6 is ending and the studio has already teased its latest season.
Announcement
Feel the chill in your bones
On December 3, the official Twitter account of Fortnite posted a picture teasing Season 7, with frost-speckled styling, captioning it 'A bitter ice spreads'.
This confirms fan theories that their favourite map will be turned to a winter wonderland since a great snowstorm has been approaching for the past few days.
Moreover, hints of snow and frost in several new cosmetics strengthen this theory.

New character
What does the image show us?
The image in the tweet shows a mysterious looking hooded figure wearing an icy crown.
With piercing eyes, this regal character will be the focus of Season 7, as a hero or a villain.
He is also likely to be responsible for the approaching storm, which players have discovered, is obscuring an iceberg.
Notably, there are castle tower battlements on top of the iceberg.
Snowboard
Hint of a new vehicle
The teaser image, if observed carefully, reveals a small character on a snowboard, surfing down the giant's shoulder.
This probably hints at a snow-covered map, but more importantly, could signal the arrival of a new type of vehicle to the game.
If Fortnite does get snowboards, going down mountains, shooting opponents, is bound to become more fun once the new season arrives in-game.
Information
'Fortnite' at The Game Awards
For those unaware, Fortnite season 7 will begin on December 6, which is the same day as The Game Awards. To great excitement, Geoff Keighley, the organizer of this award show, has teased some Fortnite-related news that will be announced during the show.
Big reveal
What could 'Fortnite' be revealing?
A senior PR from Epic has already confirmed that Keighley is not talking about the launch of Season 7.
This begs the question what else could be revealed.
The focus on the words 'announcement and world premiere' coupled with the warning for players to keep their games close could hint at either an upcoming event or a special item for players watching the function.
