#GamingBytes: Fortnite reveals gameplay for 'Getaway' mode, grapple gun
Last week, Epic's Fortnite had announced a new 'Getaway' mode, teased new skins, as well as an event called 'High Stakes'. Now, at a recent live stream from PAX West, it revealed the gameplay of thus mode. Further, it introduced the grapple gun. The gameplay introduces a new format in the Battle Royale and promises to make the final weeks of Season 5 exciting.
What is 'Getaway' all about?
The 'Getaway' mode significantly changes the gameplay. The mode has 'Capture the Flag' format. Players have to co-ordinate with three other team-mates to find 4 supply drops, scattered across the map. Upon opening, these drops hide safes will give them a jeweled llama. Players have to take these to the extraction point while surviving against rival teams.
It's time to bring in the 'Wildcard'
Fortnite also introduced a new outfit called the Wildcard skin. Similar to the Visitor outfit of Season 4, this skin comes with four variants allowing for customizable styles. The new skin has four unlockable heads, which are essentially different mask designs showing the four suits of playing cards. Notably, players will also have access to a new safe cracker glider and crowbar pickaxe.
Mobility is the name of the game
Fortnite introduced a new tool called Grappler. It marks an addition, to the item list in Season 5, that increases player mobility. Notably, the other two items aiding in-game movement are ATK vehicles and Rift-To-Go. The grappler is essentially a grapple gun, which latches itself onto a solid object and propels players in that direction. Quick movement, combined with shot accuracy, improves gameplay significantly.
