#GamingBytes: Fortnite creators to get real money for content
Fortnite, developed by Epic, is a popular Battle Royale game. Epic is all set to engage and hold the interest of the gaming community through a new event, titled 'Support-A-Creator'. The Support-A-Creator event will be introduced in the next Fortnite update and will continue till December 31. Notably, it will allow Fortnite creators to earn real money through their supporters. Read about it here.
How will players support the creators?
Players can support creators and help them earn money in the following way. They have to select 'Support a Creator' in Battle Royale's Item Shop or Save the World's Loot tab. Once fans enter the Epic tag of the creators, a portion of their V-Bucks spent will be shared with creators till the time the event ends. It will include free and purchased V-Bucks.
Let's talk about the money to be made
Epic warns, on the website, that initial income of the creators will be modest. This is because, for every 10,000 V-Bucks spent by supporters, their selected creators will get the equivalent of $5 in their banks. Despite this, Epic has cautioned creators to avoid 'clickbait infomercials'. Authenticity and building long-term fan base through entertaining and genuine content, instead, will make it lucrative for creators.
Who are eligible to be Fortnite creators?
Epic's Fortnite creators include video streamers, makers, cosplayers, artists, storytellers, community builders, and even musicians. Potentially interested candidates will be selected by Epic. However, the application criteria mentions creators must have regularly made and released Fortnite content over the past 30 days and must have over 1,000 followers on one major social platform, at least. Are you a creator or supporter, in this event?
