What's the story
Williams have unveiled their new 2025 Formula 1 car, the FW47, at Silverstone.
The event marked the public debut of the team's high-profile drivers, Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
Sainz took the first lap in the new livery on Friday.
He expressed satisfaction with his initial experience, as quoted by Sky Sports, stating "I can tell you everything went fine, which is good news."
Here's more.
Driver's perspective
Sainz's feedback on new F1 car
Sainz offered valuable feedback on the new car, marking areas where it could be improved.
"I need to give feedback - the two or three things that I felt that could be improved, or the feeling inside the cockpit, then we'll get the car ready to run on slicks," he said.
This data will be used to fine-tune the vehicle before it hits full throttle.
The unveiling comes a day after McLaren showcased their 2025 challenger at Silverstone.
Team insights
Williams's team principal on FW47
Williams's team principal James Vowles described the FW47 as an evolution of last season's car.
"What I can say is I'm proud of the work we have achieved across the winter. When you look at the car, you can see a thousand details that are another evolution of what we did before, so there has been no bolt left from where it was," he said.
He also revealed that every detail of the car has been refined for continuous advancement.
Sponsorship deal
Williams announce new title sponsor
Earlier this week, Williams announced a major partnership with software company Atlassian, calling it the "biggest partnership deal" in their long history.
The team is now gearing up for their third season under Vowles's leadership.
Despite not winning a title since 1997 or a race since 2012, Vowles is hopeful of podium finishes in the upcoming season with strong drivers and favorable circumstances.
Future plans
Williams's strategy for long-term success in F1
Vowles, who joined Williams from Mercedes in 2023, has been key to revamping the team on and off the track.
He hopes to catch up with rivals and establish a solid foundation for sustained success in Formula 1's new era of rules starting in 2026.
The signing of Sainz, a four-time Grand Prix winner at Ferrari, is viewed as a "strong statement of intent" toward achieving these goals.
