Overseas batters with most runs in Indian Premier League
Faf du Plessis etched his name in the Indian Premier League's history books. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter became just the 13th batter and the fourth foreigner to clock 4,500-plus runs in the cash-rich league. Playing his 143rd IPL match, du Plessis managed a seven-ball six. DC pacer Mukesh Kumar dismissed the former. Du Plessis owns 4,500 runs (136 innings). He averages 36 and his strike rate is 136.40. The South African batter owns 36 fifties. Du Plessis is one of the four players to smash 1,500-plus runs for RCB. He also scored 2,721 runs for Chennai Super Kings.
Chris Gayle - 4,965 runs
Universe Boss Chris Gayle finished his IPL career with 4,965 runs from 142 matches at 39.72. He struck at 148.96. Gayle smashed six hundreds and 31 fifties with a record score of 175* being the highest. He also smashed 357 sixes which is the highest in IPL history. Gayle finished his IPL career with 4,480 runs as an opener (second-most among foreign players).
AB de Villiers - 5,162 runs
Former Delhi Capitals and RCB supremo AB de Villiers finished his IPL career with 5,162 runs from 184 matches (170 innings). He averaged 39.70 and his strike rate reads 151.68. ABD smashed three tons and 40 fifties. He clocked 251 maximums. 4,491 of his runs came for RCB at 41.20 (SR: 158.63). He smashed two tons for the Challengers.
David Warner - 6,564 runs
David Warner is the top scorer among overseas players in IPL history. The Australian southpaw has smacked 6,564 runs from 183 matches at 40.77. He owns four tons and 62 fifties. Warner, who led Sunrisers Hyderabad to the IPL title in 2016, scored 4,016 runs for the franchise at 49.55. The remaining 2,550 runs have come for DC at 31.87.
