    Coronavirus outbreak: FIFA considers changing summer transfer window dates

    What's the story

    The coronavirus pandemic has crippled the world with more than 21,000 deaths being reported so far.

    In relation to the virus, all sport around the world have either been cancelled or postponed.

    In football, all major tournaments have been postponed with the Euro 2020 to be held next year.

    Meanwhile, FIFA is considering making changes in the summer transfer window.

    Summer transfer window: FIFA is considering changing the dates

    According to a report in Sky Sports, FIFA is considering changing the dates of this summer's transfer window as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

    FIFA is chairing a working group on the issue but is yet to decide on whether to delay or extend the next window.

    The men's transfer window in England and Scotland is set to open on June 10.

    FIFA-Confederations Working Group has been established

    A FIFA spokesperson has told Sky Sports News: "On March 18 the Bureau of the FIFA Council decided to establish a FIFA-Confederations Working Group in response to COVID-19."

    "This Working Group will assess the need for amendments or temporary dispensations to the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players' to protect contracts for both players and clubs and adjusting player registration periods."

    Talks regarding change of players' contracts also in line

    Meanwhile, European football officials held talks on Tuesday and are hoping to finish their domestic seasons by June 30 after the Euro 2020 was postponed. Talks have also taken place over whether to change the rules in relation to players' contracts.

    Last week, football bodies maintained their ambition and agreed to complete all domestic and European club competitions by the end of June 30. This is only if the situation improves and resumption of play being appropriate and prudent enough.
