Three football legends who will retire this season
A part of you dies when your childhood heroes stop doing what made them beloved to you. And such will be the case for millions of football fans, around the world, when at the end of the current season, three legends of the game, Xavi Hernandez, Didier Drogba, and Robin van Persie bid adieu to their illustrious careers. Robin van Persie, the 'Flying Dutchman'
Robin van Persie, the Dutch legend, who now plays for Feyenoord will be retiring from football at the end of the season. He will always be remembered for the spectacular volleys he scored and especially for the flying header against Spain in the 2014 World Cup. Robin van Persie won the Premier League with Manchester United and the FA Cup with Arsenal.
Didier Drogba: A Chelsea legend loved by all
Drogba managed to stop a civil war for a day, and that is enough to say what he means for football fans. He is an icon of Chelsea and English football, winning four Premier League titles with the Blues, along with four FA Cups and three League Cups. Drogba currently plays for the American outfit Phoenix Rising and will retire by the season's end.
Xavi will hang up his boots as well
One of the greatest mid-fielders in the history of the sport, Xavi Hernandez, is set to retire at the end of the season. He has won numerous accolades with Barcelona which includes four Champions League titles. Xavi was an integral part of one of the greatest club teams ever, and his vision, passing, and ability to create spaces were a spectacle to behold.
