Do you know these interesting WWE backstage facts?
As a child who believed in kayfabe, I wondered how WWE superstars can get along backstage, if there were such intense feuds going on between them. This made me realize WWE was scripted, and now the interest has shifted to how the company runs the show and the rules superstars have to follow during events. Here are five unknown facts about the WWE's backstage.
McMahon has a small office for himself during shows
Many superstars have complained that it is almost impossible to talk to Vince McMahon prior to a WWE show. This is because McMahon has a tiny office, somewhere backstage, which is even difficult to locate. From there, he keeps a strict eye on how the show is progressing and even helps the commentators on how to proceed during bouts.
Not all superstars are welcome in the Gorilla Room
The Gorilla Room is where wrestlers, who have an upcoming match gather, and this space is usually kept free for them. Only the top-brass of the company like the McMahons and Triple H have free access to this area, but most superstars are not welcome in the Gorilla Room. Legends like John Cena, Stone Cold or Shawn Michaels, however, have uninterrupted access.
WWE brings along its own catering service to arenas
WWE, reportedly, brings its own catering service along wherever wrestlers travel. The catering area has been compared to a high school cafeteria by some. This is where wrestlers get a chance to eat and interact with each other. Surprisingly, the food is not that healthy, as fast food items like burgers and Sloppy Joe sandwiches are said to be served.
Scripts are handed just prior to the show
WWE wrestlers have a difficult job memorizing their dialogues if they have to cut a promo during an event. This is because wrestlers arrive at the arena without any idea of what will happen during the event. Their scripts are only handed to them just a few hours before the show commences. Wrestlers like Big Show have voiced their concerns over this rule.
There is a strict dress code
WWE does have a dress code and how wrestlers should be seen while arriving for shows. They either have to wear a suit or casuals from the Tap Out brand only. Moreover, kayfabe is respected while arriving as rules state that a babyface and heel should not be seen arriving at venues together. Though kayfabe hardly exists, WWE still maintains this rule.
