Australia beat Pakistan in third ODI: Here're records broken
Australia have continued to grow from strength to strength as they sealed the ODI series against Pakistan. The Aaron Finch-led side have taken a deserving 3-0 lead in the five-match series. After beating India 3-2 earlier, Australia capped off another superb show. Aussies posted 266/6, before bowling out Pakistan for 186. The spinners in particular were impressive. How did the match pan out?
Australia were in trouble at the start, before Finch (90) and Peter Handscomb (47) got together to add 84 runs. Finch rallied on and was dismissed in the 42nd over, leaving his side at 188/5. Glenn Maxwell (71) powered the Aussies. In reply, Pakistan were 16/3, and they could never recover from there on. Adam Zampa and Pat Cummins bagged important wickets.
Finch slams 20th career ODI fifty
Finch batted sensibly and took his time. He hit five fours and a six in a 136-ball stay. This was Finch's 20th career ODI fifty. He needs 40 runs more to surpass the 4,000-run mark in ODI cricket. Finch is one four away from getting to 400 boundaries in the format. He is also nine maximums away from registering 100 ODI sixes.
Finch becomes fifth batsman to surpass 500 runs in 2019
Finch has had a fantastic series so far. He has amassed 359 runs in three matches (116, 153* and 90) already. Finch became the fifth player in 2019 to go past 500 runs in ODIs (542). He is the second Australian after Usman Khawaja (609).
Australia continue their dominance over Pak and other feats
This was Australia's second successive ODI series win this year. This was Australia's sixth consecutive bilateral ODI series win against Pakistan. Adam Zampa registered his best career ODI figures (4/43). He now has 58 ODI scalps. Cummins (3/24) now has 82 ODI scalps. He equalled former Aussie bowler Carl Rackemann (82 wickets). Maxwell registered his 17th career ODI fifty and a fifth against Pakistan.
