#GamingBytes: Dortmund's Axel Witsel wants face changed in FIFA 19
FIFA 19 is the latest addition to the popular franchise by EA. Besides delivering improved gameplay, EA is trying to bring the authentic football feel, by increasing likeness of the players and stadiums. While FIFA 19 has done a good job at rendering in-game characters who look remarkably similar to real-life counterparts, Dortmund's player Axel Witsel is dissatisfied with his character's face.
Introducing Axel Witsel, the talented youth
Axel Laurent Angel Lambert Witsel is a Belgian national team player, who currently plays for the German side Borussia Dortmund. While Witsel is a natural mid-fielder, he is often fielded in attacking positions and can also play as a right-winger.
Change my face, Witsel demands
Witsel demanded that FIFA 19 should change his character's face since the current game rendition bears no resemblance to his appearance. Due to a phenomenal performance, the player recently earned a spot in the game's Team of the Week, alongside Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann. While appreciative of this gesture, Witsel quickly pointed out that he would prefer to have his face fixed in-game.
EA promises to try its best for Witsel
Hearing Witsel's demands, the studio has responded with 'We will try our best'. Since FIFA's updates bring new player looks into the game every week, it is likely that Witsel's face will soon be updated to resemble his true self. Further, FIFA has to make a point, since it faces competition from rivals PES, which already has an accurate rendition of the player in-game.
Not the first time FIFA has listened to players
FIFA 19 has heard player requests previously whenever they have expressed problems with how they look in-game. Notably, Petr Cech expressed concern at the fact that he wore his iconic helmet even to transfer meetings in-game. FIFA was quick to replace it with a tie. Jesse Lingard and Wilfried Zaha had complained about their hair, which EA had fixed soon.
