Ferdinand says Mourinho's comments at being scrutinized are laughable
After Manchester United defeated Newcastle United in a dramatic fashion, last night, manager Jose Mourinho opened up in the post-match conference saying that he was being targeted by the media. Mourinho said that he has never seen such a 'manhunt' in his long managerial career. However, former English footballer Rio Ferdinand feels Mourinho is throwing a fit unnecessarily.
How did Mourinho react to the rumors of his sacking?
After the match, Mourinho said that in his whole life, he has never seen such wickedness and manhunt for a single person. He was referring to the huge storm of speculations that did the rounds regarding his sacking. The Portuguese also said that it was impacting the temperament of younger players like Marcus and McTominay.
Ferdinand believes it is ridiculous for Mourinho to complain
Speaking to a TV channel, Rio Ferdinand disagreed with Mourinho's views and said that his complaints are 'laugh-worthy'. Ferdinand said that being the manager of a club like United calls for your every move to be measured by world media. He added Mourinho should have not been new to this, as he has managed clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid in the past.
Scholes also seems irked by Mourinho's comments
Another United legend, Paul Scholes, believes that Mourinho should not have said that players like Marcus and McTominay are getting impacted due to these controversies. The legendary mid-fielder believes that this might have a detrimental effect on the youngsters, who are under tremendous pressure already. "I wouldn't like that kind of comment saying I was scared on the football pitch", said Scholes.
