Federer becomes most decorated Laureus Awards winner
What's the story
Swiss maestro Roger Federer became the first sportsman in the history of the Laureus Awards to win a sixth trophy.
The 20-time Grand Slam winner bagged two awards in the ceremony held at Monaco- Sportsman of the Year and Comeback of the Year awards.
He won the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2017 after a five-year gap, besides coming off an injury-plagued 2016.
On the top
Swiss legend sees off Rafa, Ronaldo
Federer sealed the best sportsperson of the year award after fending off the likes of Rafael Nadal, Lewis Hamilton and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rafa raced to 16 Slam titles after winning the French and the US Open in 2017, but lost the award to his long-term rival.
Ronaldo too had a great year and bagged all the major awards in football but lost of FedEx.
