A look at fastest batters to 7,000 ODI runs
What's the story
New Zealand batter Kane Williamson scripted history by scoring an unbeaten 133 against South Africa in the Pakistan Tri-Series.
The stunning performance came at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium during the second match, which saw the Black Caps chase down 305.
Williamson slammed his 14th ODI ton before completing 7,000 ODI runs, becoming the second-fastest to do so.
Here are the fastest batters to this feat.
#1
Hashim Amla: 150 innings
Hashim Amla, the legendary South African batter, completed 7,000 ODI runs in 150 innings. He remains the fastest-ever batter to this landmark.
Amla, who made his debut in March 2008, took just nine years and 81 days to attain this feat.
The Proteas batter touched the 7,000-run mark in 2017 against England at Lord's. He overall scored 8,113 runs in his ODI career.
#2
Kane Williamson: 159 innings
As mentioned, Williamson now occupies the second spot on this list.
The Kiwi batter took just nine more innings than Amla (159) to complete 7,000 runs in the format.
In a career spanning nearly 15 years, Williamson has racked up 7,001 runs at an average of 49.65.
He is one of only five batters with 7,000-plus runs for NZ in ODIs.
#3
Virat Kohli: 161 innings
In Lahore, Williamson surpassed India's Virat Kohli, who raced to 7,000 ODI runs in 161 innings.
It is worth noting that no other Indian has reached this mark in less than 170 innings.
Kohli, known as the Run Machine, has the third-most runs in ODI cricket (13,911). He owns the most centuries in the format (50), having surpassed Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
#4
AB de Villiers: 166 innings
South African superstar AB de Villiers catapulted to 7,000 ODI runs in 166 innings.
He is one of only four men to have unlocked this achievement in less than 170 innings.
De Villiers, who earned the nickname Mr 360, hammered 9,577 runs from just 228 ODIs at an incredible average of 53.50. His tally includes 25 tons and 53 half-centuries.
