Shreyas Iyer receives grand welcome in Anantapur for Duleep Trophy
Indian cricket star, Shreyas Iyer, has been warmly welcomed by fans in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The city is set to host the much-awaited Duleep Trophy 2024, barring the opener. This event marks the beginning of India's domestic season and is set to kick off on September 5. Upon his arrival at the Alexander Luxury Hotel, Iyer was greeted by a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters.
Iyer to lead Team D in revamped Duleep Trophy format
Notaby, Iyer has been tasked with leading Team D in the impending Duleep Trophy. He will lead a side studded with national stars - Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, and Arshdeep Singh among others. Iyer's Team D will take on Team C on September 5 at the Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur.
Iyer eyes Test comeback
Iyer has been in a downward spiral since being excluded from the BCCI's central contract list in February this year. His recent performance in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament saw him score only 24 runs for Mumbai against Tamil Nadu. Iyer, formerly a key middle-order player for India in Tests, lost his spot due to an injury sustained during the England series earlier this year. Iyer, who eyes a Test comeback, will aim to fare well in the Duleep Trophy.
