Fabregas wants Hazard at Chelsea, knows his Real Madrid dreams
Cesc Fabregas has ended his association with Chelsea this season, and is currently playing with Monaco. The Spanish legend recently opened up about his former teammate and friend Eden Hazard's status after the Belgian revealed that he had made a plan for the future and would announce his decision soon. Fabregas, however, wants Hazard at Chelsea for a little longer. Details follow.
Hazard had earlier spoken about a dream Real Madrid move
In October, Hazard had said that playing for Real Madrid has been his childhood dream. Hazard said that he had wished for a move after the World Cup because he had played amazing football in Russia. Hazard also added that he does not want to pull a Courtois, who forced Chelsea to sell him by not appearing for training.
Hazard is in blistering form this season
Hazard has been in fine form this season, having already scored 15 goals for Chelsea while contributing 10 assists so far. In Chelsea's 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield last week, Hazard managed to score a brace along with new recruit Gonzalo Higuain. He is their ultimate talisman and Chelsea will weaken considerably if Hazard decides to leave next season.
What did Fabregas say about his former teammate?
Fabregas, in his interview with Radio Marca, said that he hopes Hazard will see his Chelsea contract through till 2020 through before choosing to move to another club. Fabregas admitted that such decisions are personal and Hazard has always been open about his admiration for Los Blancos. Fabregas added, "Hopefully he will renew with Chelsea, but if he does not he will finish in Madrid."
Why is it important for Hazard to move to Madrid?
Chelsea have a lot to contribute in Hazard becoming the player that he is today. However, if he needs to seal his name among the footballing greats, a move to Spain is a must. Scoring in an El Clasico, winning the Champions League, and the Ballon d'Or are opportunities very few can resist, as we saw in the case of Courtois.
