Chelsea win FA Cup- Match in numbers
Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 to win the FA Cup and end the season with a trophy. Eden Hazard's 22nd minute penalty was enough on the night as the Blues ran clear winners with Jose Mourinho's side missing several key chances. Chelsea's victory left United and Jose empty-handed this season. Here is the match report.
Jose loses first Cup final in England
The Portuguese had a 100% record up till Sunday as he had won every Cup final tie in England. Prior to this, Jose had won three League Cups and one FA Cup with Chelsea. With United, he had won the League Cup last season besides bagging the Europa League as well. This defeat was his first as a manager in a Cup finale.
A hard fought game at Wembley
Hazard scored a penalty in the 22nd minute after being fouled by Phil Jones inside the box due to a clumsy piece of defending. In the second half, the Manchester club raised the bar with Thibaut Courtois forced to make some fine saves. Alexis Sanchez had a goal ruled out, as Paul Pogba missed a sitter after being unmarked from a corner.
11 years later Chelsea win 1-0 again!
The last time, Manchester United were beaten in a FA Cup final was in 2007 when Jose led his Chelsea side to inflict a 1-0 loss on the Red Devils. A goal from Didier Drogba had done United that time around. 11 years later, United once again, lost by the same margin with Jose at the receiving end this time around.
