The big Premier League matches this weekend
Match-week 1 of the 2018-19 season of the English Premier League has ended and the second match-week is upon us. After a thrilling start to the season, the second week holds more promise as two London derbies and matches of newly promoted sides are scheduled to take place. Here are four exciting matches to look forward to in the second week.
New faces, old rivalries
Arsenal and Chelsea have both appointed new managers, Unai Emery and Maurizio Sarri respectively. Both managers will have a point to prove when they clash this weekend in the London derby at Stamford Bridge. Emery will want to go past his defeat at the hands of Manchester City, while Sarri would want to continue his unbeaten run. The match promises to be truly exciting!
Will Harry Kane be able to steal the show?
In another London face-off, Tottenham will encounter Fulham, the newly promoted club which lost their first match against Crystal Palace. However, it is noteworthy that Fulham have made signings worth £100 million, whereas Pochettino has not shelled out a penny this season. Kane could not find the back of the net in the first match, and will be keen to open his account now.
Jose Mourinho will be eager to shut his critics
Mourinho, after a shaky victory against Leicester last week, will want to set things straight once and for all. He has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard will be in the starting line-up in their match against Brighton. Brighton will also want to win desperately after being handed a 0-2 defeat last week at the hands of Watford.
Liverpool set to face tough challenge from Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace will be hosting Liverpool at Selhurst Park, this week, in an encounter where the Reds will be the clear favorites. However, Palace have been commendable in their first outing of the league, winning 2-0 against Fulham. Wilfried Zaha will be the Palace player to watch out for as Mo Salah and Mane would try to continue their goals-galore this week.
