What's the story

The English Premier League (EPL) has completed its third match-week of the 2019-20 season. While some of the top teams clashed against minnows, there was also a high-profile tie as Liverpool took on rivals Arsenal. Notably, all the matches, barring one, had predictable results. On the same note, we analyze the top matches and present the key takeaways.

Chelsea

Tammy Abraham shines amidst Chelsea's weak defense

Chelsea's Tammy Abraham had been playing on loan with other EPL teams for the past three seasons. However, he has given his Chelsea career a fine lift-off, following twin strikes this week against Norwich City, which also included the winner. But, Frank Lampard needs to work on the defense, as they could not hold on to the lead on two occasions.

United

David de Gea's howler haunts United

Manchester United have failed to carry forward the momentum post their big victory in the opener. This week, they succumbed to a 1-2 defeat at Old Trafford to Crystal Palace. It was a howler by goal-keeper David de Gea in the closing moments which cost United this game. Are his stalled contract talks amidst rumored exit one of the factors?

Salah

Mohamed Salah: Liverpool's goal-machine guides to another win

Liverpool are the only team which have 100% winning record in the EPL this season so far. And, the credit goes to their ace striker Mohamed Salah, who has been their goal-machine in the past couple of seasons. He scored another brace against Arsenal this week, as he continued his amazing form. Will he help Liverpool to end their EPL drought?

Gunners

Arsenal need to step-up attack and defense

A 1-3 defeat is certainly going to hurt Arsenal, especially against Liverpool. While they looked lackluster initially, they did step-up following the half-time, especially with the attack. But, they should start having more shots on target. However, it is the defense on which Unai Emery's men need to work upon. They face another tough test against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, next week.

City

Manchester City back to winning ways

Manchester City have managed to shrug off their VAR troubles since the past couple of games as Sergio Aguero's 400th career goal got them back on winning track. However, it was David Silva who drew attention as it was his crucial assist that helped City against Bournemouth. This puts Silva in the spotlight as he would be their key man to EPL title's hat-trick.
