The tweets which tease the event
Developers Epic teased the event through cryptic tweets.
The studio tweeted twice, the first saying "Costumes and dancing / Partner up, be wise. / They could be friendly / Or a ghoul in disguise".
The second was even more ominous saying "Tombstones quake / Keep your finger steady / The circle will close / Better be ready".
Both tweets used the 'Fortnitemares' hashtag.

What do the tweets depict?
The first tweet gave players a glimpse of an unidentified character or skin that might be coming to Fortnite.
Considering that Fortnite often introduces skins pertaining to relevant occasions, this seems like a safe guess.
The second tweet showed gamers a smaller version of the perplexing Purple Cube, that Fortnite players had lovingly dubbed Kevin.
Notably, the tweets are appearing at 24-hour intervals.

While the cryptic tweets are puzzling, the persistent community has been looking for clues.
One gamer pieced two tweets together and it appears as though the unidentified character from the first tweet is holding the miniature cube from the second.
However, the picture is not clear yet, and this is just speculation.
Once more tweets come out, Epic's intended puzzle should be clearer.
