England beat India to seal the first Test in dramatic fashion as they skilfully defended 193 runs. India resumed the day at 110/5. However, their pursuit of 194 come to an end when Virat Kohli (51) departed off Ben Stokes. Hardik Pandya got runs, but there wasn't any support. Kohli amasses 200 runs in 1st Test
Kohli scored a fantastic 149 in the first innings and backed it up by getting a fifty in the 2nd. It was Kohli's 22nd ton and his 17th Test fifty. Kohli faced more balls in this Test, than all the matches in 2014 tour (288). Kohli became the 2nd Indian skipper to score 200 or more runs in a Test match in England.

Ishant Sharma picked his 7th five-for away from home in Test cricket. 20-year-old Sam Curran became the youngest England player to score a fifty and also take a four-wicket haul in a Test match.
