England-Australia T20I series ends in a draw due to rain
The T20I cricket series between England and Australia concluded in a draw, following the cancelation of the third match at the Emirates, Old Trafford. Persistent heavy rain throughout the day in Manchester prevented any play from taking place. This led to an official abandonment of the match by umpires, resulting in a 1-1 series deadlock. The two teams will now face in an ODI series.
Australia clinched 1st T20I, England bounced back
Australia emerged victorious in the first T20 held in Southampton, with Travis Head leading the charge by scoring a quick half-century. However, England retaliated in the second match in Cardiff. Liam Livingstone's exceptional performance of 87 runs propelled them to victory. The third and final match of the series was anticipated to be a decider but was thwarted by inclement weather conditions.
Teams gear up for ODI series
Following the T20I series draw, both teams are now preparing for a five-match one-day international (ODI) series in Nottingham. The first match of this series is scheduled for Thursday, September 19. England will continue to play without their white-ball captain, Jos Buttler, who is still recuperating from a right calf injury that sidelined him from the T20s and The Hundred.
Harry Brook to captain England in ODI series against Australia
Harry Brook has been appointed as the captain of England's One Day International (ODI) team for the upcoming series against Australia. This will mark Brook's first stint as ODI captain, stepping in for Buttler during this crucial series. In addition to Buttler's absence, the ECB announced that 20-year-old Josh Hull will also miss the series due to a quad injury. All-rounder Livingstone has been named as his replacement.
