All about the third ODI between England and Australia
England will be aiming to seal the 5-match ODI series when they lock horns with Australia tonight at Trent Bridge. England are leading by 2-0 in the series and the depleted Australia are facing a must-win scenario. Moreover, England will be bolstered by the return of regular skipper Eoin Morgan, who missed out on the 2nd ODI due to back spasms. Here's our preview.
England hit by injury woes
Even though Morgan is set to return, the participation of Jonny Bairstow isn't guaranteed. He has an ongoing knee issue and has a strap attached. He had passed a late fitness test ahead of the second ODI. Meanwhile, England have confirmed that all-rounders Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes will play no part in the remaining three ODIs due to injuries.
In focus: England's set of batsmen
Jason Roy slammed a spectacular ton in the second match. Further, credit should be given to Jos Buttler for his heroics down the order. In this series, Jos has been England's match-winner in the middle-order with Roy providing the base atop. Besides the duo, Hales, at number 3, provides the desired impetus as well. He is keen to get back his opening position.
Finch frustrated by batting woes
Australia have won 2 ODIs out of their last 15 matches. They are, in line, to lose a second ODI bilateral series against England in the same year. The batting has been a let down at large and Aaron Finch is concerned with the side losing close games regularly. Finch also believes Australia's 6th place in ODI rankings is fair, given their recent performances.
What to expect in the 3rd ODI?
Australia will be working hard to prevent England from running away with the game. Another defeat tonight would mean a fourth consecutive bilateral ODI series loss for Australia. Aussies will need to show more discipline tonight. England, on the other hand, go in as favourites and they will be sticking to the same plan which has worked for them in the first two ODIs.
When and where to watch the 3rd match?
The third ODI between the two sides will be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. It's scheduled for a 6:30 PM IST start. The match will be shown live at the Sony Ten network. It can be streamed live on the Sony LIV app as well.
