Disappointing to be knocked out of the tournament early: Buttler
What's the story
England's current white-ball captain Jos Buttler said it's disappointing to be knocked out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy early.
Buttler said this after his side's eight-run defeat against Afghanistan in the Champions Trophy on Wednesday night in Lahore.
The Afghanistan team posted 325/7 in 50 overs.
In response, England folded for 317 runs in 49.5 overs. England suffered their 2nd successive defeat in the tournament.
Before this, they were beaten by Australia.

Buttler disappointed as England bow out
In the post-match presentation, Buttler said England had chances but they didn't take them.
"Disappointing to be knocked out of the tournament early. We had our chances in the game and we didn't take them. Root played an unbelievable innings and we needed one of the top six batters to stay with him. The last 10 overs got away from us a bit," the England skipper opined.
Words
Buttler praises Wood for playing through injury
Buttler credited Ibrahim Zadran for his brilliant hundred and credit Mark Wood for playing through injury.
"Credit to Ibrahim, he played a fantastic innings. 113 off the last 10 pushed them up to a very good score on that pitch. Unfortunately in his 4th over he (Wood) felt his knee, credit to him for bowling through the pain and showing a lot of character. It was difficult, Livi was also off the field but credit to him for coming back."

Buttler also praises centurion Root
Joe Root slammed 120 runs for England and took the game close. "He (Root) has been a brilliant player in all formats and showed us the way to handle the pressure. His ODI record is fantastic," said Buttler on Root.
Captaincy
I don't want to make any emotional statements, says Buttler
Buttler has asserted that he would "consider all possibilities" about his future as white-ball captain.
This was England's ninth defeat in their last 10 white-ball games.
"It's tough to say, stood here right now, and I don't want to make any emotional statements," Buttler told Sky Sports.
"I've enjoyed it [the captaincy]. I've seen lots of people say it doesn't sit well with me, but I do enjoy it," Buttler said.
