England pacer Chris Woakes pulls out of IPL 2020
England pace sensation Chris Woakes has reportedly pulled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season, according to a report in Sky Sports. The ICC World Cup 2019 star has reportedly informed Delhi Capitals of his decision. Meanwhile, DC have already started to look out for a replacement. Here are further details on the same.
Woakes' experience and character will be missed by DC
Woakes was purchased for Rs. 1.5 crore in the IPL auction 2020. He was deemed as the perfect replacement for Trent Boult after the Kiwi pacer was allowed to join Mumbai Indians ahead of the auction. Woakes to skip IPL in order to keep himself fresh
According to reports, Woakes has decided to skip IPL 13 to keep himself fresh for the busy international summer. For DC, it comes as a big blow as pacers Kagiso Rabada and Ishant Sharma have been nursing respective injuries before the start of the tournament. DC will need both Ishant and Rabada to be fit and ready. Things look a bit worrying for DC.
Woakes had earlier played for KKR and RCB
The England cricketers are scheduled to join their respective teams after the completion of their two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Woakes has earlier played in the IPL for the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has played 18 matches in IPL so far and claimed a total of 25 scalps at 23.04.
IPL 13 to begin from March 29
