New Zealand vs England- 2nd Test Preview
Visiting England will look to avoid a series defeat against an in-form New Zealand, when they face each other in Christchurch. Joe Root's side lost the first Test by an innings and 49 runs and would work hard to avoid a similar fate. Come Friday, it will be crucial for England that their batsmen score runs. Here's our pre-match report.
Ben's injury a cause of concern for England
England are sweating over the fitness of Ben Stokes. He had suffered a back injury in the ODI series. He missed bowling in the first Test and Joe Root wants to avoid the same as it takes away the balance. England have named Mark Wood, Jack Leach and James Vince in the 12-man squad. Struggling Moeen Ali has been dropped.
England out to avoid unwanted record
England have now remained winless in their last 12 away Tests. Another draw or loss will set an embarrassing record of the worst winless run in away Tests. They have lost 10 out of these 12 Tests, including a 0-4 loss in 2017-18 Ashes.
New Zealand would look to script history
New Zealand haven't won a single Test series against England since 1999 and have a poor overall record against the visitors. Therefore being 1-0 up gives NZ the zeal and hunger to go and complete the job. Kane Williamson will look up to the in-form bowling attack to deliver the goods. The Kiwis have won 7 out of their 10 last Tests at home.
When and where to watch?
The 2nd Test starts at 3:30 AM and will be telecast live on Star Sports 1 Select and Star Sports 1 Select HD. The match will be played in Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
