England gained a massive victory at Edgbaston as they beat India in the match number 38 of the ICC World Cup 2019. This keeps England's hopes alive in terms of a semi-final qualification. Bairstow smashed eighth career ODI century
Bairstow slammed his maiden World Cup century. His 111-run knock was studded with 10 fours and six sixes. This was the England opener's eighth career ODI hundred. Bairstow also registered his second ODI hundred in 2019. He went past the 600-run mark in ODIs this year (668) and is England's third highest run-scorer after Eoin Morgan (695) and Jason Roy (683).
Roy, Bairstow surpass 2,000 ODI partnership runs
Roy, who returned from injury, struck a 57-ball 66. This was his second half-century in the ongoing World Cup. It was also his fourth ODI fifty in 2019. Roy slammed his 16th career ODI fifty. The two openers added 160 runs for the first wicket in just 132 deliveries. This was their ninth career century-plus stand. They also surpassed 2,000 ODI partnership runs.

Stokes registers third successive fifty, Root scripts this record
Ben Stokes (79) is now England's highest run-scorer in CWC 19 (370). This was his third successive fifty and a fourth in total in the ongoing World Cup. Stokes also surpassed the 600-run mark in ODIs this year (624). He also amassed his 19th career ODI fifty. Joe Root (47) is now the third highest run-scorer for England in World Cup history (678).
Shami scripts a host of World Cup records
Mohammed Shami (5/69) now has 30 career World Cup scalps. He surpassed former Indian legend Kapil Dev in terms of career World Cup scalps (28). Shami became the sixth Indian bowler to register a five-wicket haul in the World Cup. He also became the second bowler ever after Shahid Afridi to claim three successive four-wicket hauls in a World Cup edition.

Shami is now the second highest wicket-taker in ODIs this year (32) and trails Trent Boult (34). This was Shami's first five-wicket haul in ODIs. The right-arm pacer now has 13 wickets in three games in World Cup 2019. He is also India's highest wicket-taker in the tourney. Shami also raced to 126 career ODI scalps.

Kohli first captain in CWC to script this record
Virat Kohli (66) became the first captain to score five consecutive fifty-plus scores in World Cup history. The 30-year-old became the second player after Steve Smith to score five consecutive 50-plus scores in World Cup. Kohli and Rohit Sharma shared a 138-run stand. This was their 17th century-plus stand in ODIs. They now have 4,658 runs as a pair.
Rohit equals Ganguly with this splendid feat
Rohit (102) notched his third century in CWC 19. The senior cricketer joined the likes of Sourav Ganguly (2003), Australian heroes Mark Waugh (1996) and Matthew Hayden (2007), who achieved the feat in their World Cup journey. He is the second Indian after Dada to register three tons in a CWC. He also equalled Ganguly in terms of World Cup tons (4).
Rohit surpasses Kapil, Yuvi with this record
Rohit smashed his fourth ODI century in 2019. He equalled Aaron Finch and is now the joint-top run-scorer. Rohit now has 996 ODI runs in 2019. He is now the seventh highest run-scorer for India in World Cup history (770). He surpassed the likes of Kapil Dev (669) and Yuvraj Singh (738). Rohit also slammed his 25th career ODI ton.
