    Sutton United's reserve goalkeeper Wayne Shaw resigned after an investigation was launched by the The Gambling Commission and Football Association for a potential breach of betting rules.

    Popularly known as 'roly-poly-golie', the 46-year old Shaw was seen eating pie during Sutton's match against Arsenal. Reportedly, a bookmaker had offered odds of 8-1 on him being seen eating during the match.

    Wayne Shaw is an English goalkeeper and a goalkeeping coach for England's fifth tier club Sutton United.

    In his youth career, Shaw played as a striker for Southampton before he moved to Sutton.

    During his career, he has made appearances for clubs like Basingstoke Town F.C. , Bashley F.C., AFC Totton, Eastleigh F. C. and Gosport Borough F. C.

    Not hiding the fact that he did not know about the bet, Wayne Shaw said that he just pulled out a stunt to have a bit of banter.

    He said, "It was just a bit of banter for them. It's something to make the occasion as well and you can look back and say we got our ticket money back."

    Sutton United's manager Paul Doswell said that Shaw made a bad error of judgements. He added, "We are going to be investigated, and it has turned into a bit of a nightmare. I'm devastated for him."
