Jofra Archer included in England's T20 WC squad: Details
Jofra Archer has been named in England's preliminary squad for the upcoming 2024 ICC T20 World Cup 2024, starting on June 1. The pacer hasn't played an international game since May 2023 due to fitness issues. Meanwhile, this England squad will also take on Pakistan in a four-match T20I series next month at home. Here are further details.
Defending champions seek to retain the title
England will enter the event as defending champions, having tasted the glory in 2022. Jos Buttler will lead them once again while Will Jacks, Phil Salt, Ben Duckett, Jonny Bairstow are the contenders for the other opener's slot. Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran will be required to ace the finisher's role. Notably, Ben Stokes has made himself unavailable for the tournament.
Plenty of all-rounders in the team
Jacks, Curran, and Livingstone can also contribute with the ball. Moeen Ali is the other all-rounder in the squad. While Adil Rashid and Tom Hartley are the frontline spinners, Reece Topley, Mark Wood, and Chris Jordan are the other pacers in the squad besides Archer. Jordan has also not played an international game since September 2023.
