IPL 2025: Eden Gardens to host final on May 25
What's the story
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final will be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on May 25.
The iconic cricket ground will also host the tournament's opening match on March 22.
Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be played in Hyderabad, while the Qualifier 2 will be played in Kolkata on May 23.

Tournament details
IPL 2025: A tournament of 74 matches
The IPL 2025 season will have 74 matches, spanning 65 days.
There will be 12 double-headers in the schedule, with the tournament opener seeing Kolkata Knight Riders take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in an evening match.
It will be followed by a double-header Sunday on March 23, where Sunrisers Hyderabad will host Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings will face off against Mumbai Indians.

IPL 2025: Afternoon matches and team distribution
In the next season, four teams- Royals, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Gujarat Titans- will play three afternoon matches each. The other seven teams will play two day matches each.
The afternoon games will start at 3:30pm IST.
The 10 participating teams have been divided into two groups for this season's competition.
Venue details
IPL 2025: Additional venues and home matches
The IPL 2025 season will also see matches being played at other venues like Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Dharamsala. These cities are secondary home bases for some of the teams.
Guwahati and Visakhapatnam will host two matches each, while three games will be played in Dharamsala.
The latter venue has been given an extra game this season owing to its popularity among fans.
Team divisions
IPL 2025: Team groupings and match-ups
The teams have been divided into two groups for the IPL 2025 season.
Group one features Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Punjab Kings.
The second group features Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
Each team will face others in their group as well as one team from the opposite group twice.

CSK to play RCB and MI twiceĀ
Chennai Super Kings will play rivals Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru twice each during the league phase.
The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK side will open their campaign at home against fellow five-time winners Mumbai Indians on March 23. They will be playing the return leg in Mumbai on April 20.
Meanwhile, CSK will host southern rivals RCB on March 28 before making the trip to Bengaluru on May 3 for the return leg.
Season kick-off
IPL 2025: Season openers and new captains
Notably, four teams - Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants - will all play their opening match away. They will only play their respective first home matches in April.
Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants in Visakhapatnam on March 24.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals are yet to announce their new captains for the upcoming season.
