Dwayne Bravo reveals seeking Gambhir's advice ahead of IPL 2025
What's the story
Dwayne Bravo, the new mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has sought former player Gautam Gambhir's advice ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Bravo, who has taken over the role from Gambhir, hopes to build on the successful strategies of his predecessor.
With Gambhir as mentor and Shreyas Iyer as captain, KKR ended their decade-long IPL trophy drought with a third title in 2024.
Here's more.
Coaching approach
Bravo acknowledges Gambhir's unique coaching style
Bravo also acknowledged the different coaching styles of both him and Gambhir.
"Unfortunately, we lost some players. But I think GG had his style, I have my style. We're both successful in our own ways," he stated as quoted by PTI.
"Definitely, I messaged him a few times and stuff. But again, I will be leaning a lot on these guys," he added.
Leadership change
KKR's leadership transition and new captaincy
As KKR gear up for the new season, there has been a major change in leadership.
Iyer was released by KKR and bought by the Punjab Kings for ₹26.5 crore in the mega auction.
The team management has now handed over captaincy duties to Ajinkya Rahane, with Venkatesh Iyer as his deputy.
Rahane, who last played for KKR in 2022, brings a wealth of captaincy experience to the role.
Preseason preparations
KKR gears up for IPL 2025 season opener
KKR have already started their practice sessions ahead of the new season.
The team is keen to repeat its success from the last edition of the tournament.
KKR will kick off their campaign on March 22 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens.
Key players like Andre Russell and Sunil Narine would be the key to their success.
