Duleep Trophy: Harshit Rana shines with four-fer against India A
India's rising pace-bowling sensation Harshit Rana demonstrated his prowess by registering a four-wicket haul for India D in the Duleep Trophy match against India A in Anantapur. This impressive performance follows his successful stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) under Gautam Gambhir's leadership, where he helped the team clinch the IPL 2024 title. Rana's consistent performances are seen as a strong argument for his inclusion in the Indian national cricket team.
A fine spell from Rana
Shashwat Rawat was Rana's first victim in the game as India A were reduced to 93/5 while batting first. He then sent back tail-ender Prasidh Krishna as India D claimed eight wickets on the opening day. Rana took the remaining two wickets in no time on Day 2 morning as India D were folded for 290. Notably, the pacer also stopped Shams Mulani (89) from reaching the three-figure mark.
Rana's impressive track record in domestic and international cricket
Rana's cricketing journey has been marked by significant achievements. He had a memorable IPL 2024,and his recent performances in the Duleep Trophy further underscore his potential. The 22-year-old fast bowler was also selected for the first two T20Is during India's tour of Zimbabwe, following the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup. Rana, however, is still uncapped in international cricket.
Second successive four-fer for Rana
Rana finished with 4/51 across 17.3 overs. He delivered four maidens. Notably, the pacer claimed a four-wicket haul (4/33) in India D's opener as well, against India C. With his latest spell, he has raced to 36 wickets across nine First-Class games at 24-plus. The tally now includes three four-fers alongside a solitary five-wicket haul.
