Duleep Trophy: Gill spoils Rishabh Pant's comeback with stunning catch
Indian batter Rishabh Pant's much-awaited return to red-ball cricket was cut short after he faced only 10 balls in the first innings of Duleep Trophy match between India A and India B. The wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed by a remarkable catch from Shubman Gill, who is leading India A in the match. Notably, Pant is playing his maiden red-ball match since December 2022.
Gill's exceptional fielding sends Pant back to pavilion
Pant was dismissed on Day 1 of the Duleep Trophy match in Bengaluru, after the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led India A elected to field. Pant was dismissed for a 10-ball 7 while attempting a shot off left-arm seamer Akash Deep. However, he ended up slicing it. Gill, positioned at mid-off, managed to keep his eye on the ball and ran backward to make an exceptional catch that ended Pant's innings prematurely.
