#GamingBytes: 5 ways Blackout is better than Fortnite
Call of Duty's new Battle Royale game, Blackout, is in the beta mode. However, it has already caught the gaming world's attention. With the foray of popular franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield into the Battle Royale genre, established titles like Fortnite and PUBG are facing stiff competition. Here we bring you five ways Blackout is better than Fortnite.
Blackout is keeping it real
Epic's Fortnite is popular for introducing a wacky perspective to a serious game format. Characters are cartoon caricatures and the costumes are tacky. While some gamers might enjoy this light-hearted approach to the genre, most prefer grounded experience as it makes the Battle Royale more immersive. Blackout, with its realistic approach to warfare and tactics, outshines relatively casual gameplay of Fortnite.
Is this the real life, is it just fantasy?
A point against Blackout's recent praise for realism can also be made. Despite including realistic settings, characters, and warfare techniques, they do have absurd elements in-game like zombies and the ray gun. However, being nostalgic aspects of the franchise, players appear okay with it.
Can we build it? Yes we can!
Fortnite gives players the option to build structures. This requires them to collect resources like wood, bricks, and metal that is used here. The structures provide an undue advantage to players who might not be great at shooting but can build labyrinthine structures to confuse and kill enemies. Blackout does not allow such absurd structures to be made, making the fighting much fairer.
The pleasure of vehicular warfare
Vehicular warfare is an integral part of any authentic Battle Royale experience, especially across big maps. Surprisingly Fortnite, until recently, did not have vehicles. Their latest addition is an all-terrain kart inspired by the Mario kart's vehicles. On the other hand, Blackout offers players vehicles for warfare on land, air, and water. The diverse techniques involved in such warfare make Blackout more fascinating.
How many guns does a man require?
Fortnite has an extremely complex weapon tier system. They are ranked on basis of rarity and players can carry up to 5 weapons. The absurdity of a player carrying 5 weapons and outrunning the storm can only be imagined. Blackout is more realistic and players have to decide their game-style right away as they can only carry two weapons at a time.
Defense is the best offense
Fortnite offers consumable shield potions instead of armors to players. Notably, this process takes time, which can become cumbersome while fighting or outrunning the storm. Blackout, on the other hand, has armors which are immediately equipped. They are graded into three levels. However, in defense of Fortnite, players can carry more than one shield potion at once which is not an option in Blackout.
A long way to the top
Despite Blackout's impressive start, Fortnite still remains a powerhouse in Battle Royale genre of gaming. With Epic continuously adding new and exciting content, it draws an increasing number of players. Blackout has a long way to go to match up.
