MS Dhoni is more popular than Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar
Despite all the flak he received, recently, for his show in the ODI series loss against England, MS Dhoni still rules the hearts of fans as far as admiration is concerned. Interestingly, he is a more popular sportsperson than Indian skipper Virat Kohli and legend Sachin Tendulkar at this moment. In a survey conducted by YouGov, MSD received more votes than the duo.
Dhoni only behind Narendra Modi in terms of popularity
In the global study, Dhoni received 7.7% of votes and was only behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tendulkar, who has been worshipped like God for decades, got 6.8%, while Kohli managed a vote percentage of 4.8. Notably, Dhoni is one of the most successful captains who has won every ICC Trophy possible. Over 4 million people participated in the survey.
Dhoni adds another feather in his cap
Dhoni has won several illustrious awards in his career and this is just another feather in the cap. The veteran wicket-keeper batsman recently became the 12th ever batsman in ODIs to get past 10,000 runs. The 36-year-old was booed by a certain section of fans in the recently concluded ODI series, against England, as speculation over his retirement too made noises.
Dhoni is crucial for India
Dhoni was unfairly treated by the fans recently despite chipping in with runs against England. Although he never showed the momentum, that was largely because he ran out of partners at the other end. Dhoni is crucial for India's campaign in 2019 ICC World Cup.
