IPL: Who are the best captains of all time?
2019 Indian Premier League is set to start from March 23 onwards. The 12th edition of the tourney will test all the eight captains as they fight in one of the most competitive leagues. Over the last 11 editions, we have had some brilliant leaders who were not only successful, but brought in the consistency required. Here we look at the best captains.
MS Dhoni has inspired everyone
Without any doubt, MS Dhoni is one of the GOATs of IPL. He has guided Chennai Super Kings to three titles. Post Chennai's return from a two-year suspension, Dhoni inspired them to a trophy win in 2018. MSD has always provided the calmness required to finish matches. He has led CSK to the play-offs in nine campaigns. CSK have featured in seven finals.
Rohit has been an able skipper for Mumbai Indians
Rohit Sharma was appointed skipper of Mumbai Indians in 2013. And he led the side to its maiden title in that year. Since then Rohit helped Mumbai to win two more titles (2015 and 2017). His impact as a captain can be measured by the young squad he has built. Rohit has captained Mumbai in 89 matches and his winning percentage is 57.86.
Gautam Gambhir led KKR to glory twice
Gautam Gambhir was a reputed IPL customer. Gambhir retired from all forms of cricket last year. He led Kolkata Knight Riders for a period of seven years from 2011-2017. During this period, Gambhir made KKR an able force and helped them deliver consistent performances. He won two titles for KKR in 2012 and 2014. His winning percentage is 55.42 in 129 matches.
