IPL 2019: How much will Dhawan earn at Delhi Daredevils?
Sunrisers Hyderabad were 'forced' to sell southpaw Shikhar Dhawan to Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing IPL transfer window, ahead of the auction for the 2019 season. Dhawan, who was a prominent figure of the SRH side for the last few seasons, was reportedly not happy with the financial aspect of his deal with Hyderabad. But how much is he set to earn with Delhi?
Dhawan was bought via RTM card by SRH last season
Dhawan, who played a key role in SRH's rise over the years, was unhappy with the money he was bought for via the Right to Match (RTM) option in 2018. Sunrisers had retained David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar ahead of the 2018 auction. They used the RTM card and paid Rs. 5.2 crore for Dhawan, but that unsettled Dhawan and made him unhappy.
Dhawan was earning Rs. 5.2 crore last season
The reason behind Dhawan's unhappiness was several players got better deals than him last season. According to reports, Dhawan was earning Rs. 5.2 crore last season as compared to Rs. 12.5 crore, two seasons back, when the franchise decided to retain the player. Dhawan was reportedly holding talks with KXIP for a move, but they were offering just Rs. 1 crore more.
This is what Dhawan is set to earn with Daredevils
Delhi came into the picture and opted to offer him a slightly better deal than KXIP. Reports claim that Dhawan is set to earn in the region of Rs. 7 crore at DD. That's a significant rise for Dhawan. Dhawan has been a key player for the Orange Army since he joined them in 2013. He won the IPL title, with them, in 2016.
