MS Dhoni has played 159 matches in the IPL so far, and has scored 3,560 runs at a stunning average of 37.87 and a strike rate of 136.71. Given that Dhoni comes down the order, his average is remarkable. The 36-year-old boasts a top score of 70* and has slammed 17 IPL fifties. He is 9th on the all-time list of most runs scored.
Not just a prolific batsman, a successful wicket-keeper too
Dhoni is second on the all-time list for most dismissals as a wicket-keeper in the IPL. The former Indian captain has 102 dismissals to his name which includes 72 catches and 30 stumpings. Only Dinesh Karthik has a better record with 106 dismissals.

Dhoni was the most expensive player in the inaugural edition of IPL. He was signed as the marquee player by the Chennai Super Kings. He captained the yellow brigade to IPL glory in 2010. That same year, they did the double by winning the Champions League T20. In 2011, they retained the IPL title, whereas they won the Champions League once more in 2014.

MS Dhoni is on second spot in the list of the most number of IPL matches played. Mahi has 159 games under his belt. He shares the record with Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma. Only Suresh Raina has played more matches (161) than both of them.
Mahi couldn't replicate his CSK's success in 2016
Under Dhoni's leadership, CSK finished as two-time champions, runners-up 4 times and semi-finalists twice in their 8 seasons. However, Dhoni did not find the same success when he was appointed the captain of Rising Pune Supergiant. His new side finished 7th in their maiden campaign and he was axed as the captain the following season.

MS Dhoni holds the record for the most matches as captain with 143 games to his name. The former India skipper has won 83 of them while losing just 59. The Ranchi man boasts a healthy 58.45% win record in the IPL which is the third best (30+ matches) behind Rohit Sharma's 60.66% and Sachin Tendulkar's 58.82%.
