Virat Kohli owns these Test feats against Bangladesh
Eyes will be on Virat Kohli as the Indian cricket team gears up to host Bangladesh in a two-Test series, starting on September 19. Kohli, who has struggled to get going in Tests in recent years, still boats a sensational Test record. He has also enjoyed operating against the Tigers in this format. Here we look at the records Kohli owns against Bangladesh (Tests).
India's fourth-highest run-getter vs Bangladesh
As per ESPNcricinfo, Kohli is India's fourth-leading run-getter against Bangladesh in Tests, having smoked 437 runs across six Tests against them at 54.62. He is only behind Sachin Tendulkar (820), Rahul Dravid (560), and Cheteshwar Pujara (468). Kohli has a realistic chance to surpass Pujara and Dravid in the upcoming series. Both of Kohli's 50-plus scores against Bangladesh have been converted into centuries.
One of the two Indian skippers with this record
Both of Kohli's tons against Bangladesh have come while leading the team. While he scored 204 in the 2017 Hyderabad game, the batting talisman made 136 in the 2019 Day-Night match in Kolkata. Dravid (129 in Mirpur, 2007) is the only other Indian skipper with a Test hundred against the Tigers.
Kohli is also a part of this elite list
Meanwhile, Kohli is among the six captains with a Test double-ton against Bangladesh. New Zealand's Tom Latham, Sri Lanka's Dimuth Karunaratne, South Africa's Graeme Smith, New Zealand's Stephen Fleming, and New Zealand's Kane Williamson are the others on this elite list. Meanwhile, the 2017 Hyderabad match saw Kohli record a 200-plus score in four successive Test series.
Do you know?
Bangladesh have played just one Day-Night Test so far, against India in Kolkata in 2019. Kohli scored 136 off 194 balls as India recorded an innings triumph. Interestingly, that was also India's maiden Day-Night Test.
