The many controversies of Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw
Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw is not new to controversy. Oshiwara police booked eight people on Wednesday, February 15 for attacking cricketer Shaw's friend's car outside a five-star hotel. Why does this story matter?
According to the complaint given by Shaw's friend Ashish Surendra Yadav, the car carrying Shaw was attacked with baseball bats, then the accused followed the car and threatened false cases. As per India Today, the accused woman's (Sapna Gill) lawyer Ali Kashif Khan said she was assaulted by Shaw. He claimed the police are not allowing her to go for medical," Ali Kashif said.
What is the incident?
Shaw had gone to a five-star hotel in Santacruz for dinner when the unidentified accused came and insisted on a selfie. Shaw obliged two people with a selfie, but the same group returned and asked for more selfies. Shaw refused this time saying he has come to eat food with friends before his friend called the manager of the hotel and complained about them.
The incident takes a wrong turn
The accused were asked to leave the hotel and the incident angered them. When Shaw and his friend came out of the hotel, some people were standing outside with baseball bats. Shaw's friend's car, a BMW, was vandalized as the accused used baseball bats to smash the front and rear windows of the vehicle.
Cough syrup controversy
Shaw was suspended until November 15, 2019, for a doping violation committed in the 2018-19 season. He was said to have inadvertently taken a banned substance found in cough syrups and ended up missing the first half of the Indian cricket season. Based on the findings, the BCCI put forward a back-dated eight-month suspension.
Shaw's urine sample tested positive
The youngster's urine sample was taken as part of the BCCI's anti-doping testing program during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match on February 22, 2019, in Indore. The sample was subsequently tested and found to contain Terbutaline. This is a specified substance that is prohibited both In and Out of Competition in the WADA's Prohibited List of Substances.
