As cricket lovers await the return of the tournament after an eight-year-long gap, let's take a look at the Indian batters with 500-plus runs in the prestigious competition.

Shikhar Dhawan - 701 runs
Former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan tops this lisr.
He scored 701 runs from just 10 matches at an average of 77.88 and strike rate of 101.59. This includes three tons and as many fifties.
Dhawan's performance was instrumental in India's victory at the 2013 Champions Trophy, where he was the top scorer with a total of 363 runs.
The southpaw was also the highest run-getter of the 2017 CT though India finished as runners-up.

Sourav Ganguly - 665 runs
Another former left-handed opening batter, Sourav Ganguly is second on this list.
He scored 665 runs from 11 innings in 13 matches at an average of 73.88 and a strike rate of 83.12.
Like Dhawan, the former opener also made three tons and as many fifties in the competition.
Ganguly was the captain of the Indian team that was named the joint-winners of the 2002 CT.

Rahul Dravid - 627 runs
The only other Indian batter with over 600 Champions Trophy runs is Rahul Dravid.
The batting talisman featured in 19 CT games where he managed a total of 627 runs at an impressive average of 48.23.
Though he failed to hammer a single century at the event, his tally includes six fifties.
Notably, Dravid led India in the 2006 Champions Trophy.

Virat Kohli - 529 runs
Across his ICC Champions Trophy career, Virat Kohli has played 13 matches and scored 529 runs in 12 innings, as per ESPNcricinfo.
His highest score is an unbeaten 96, with a phenomenal batting average of 88.16.
He has scored five half-centuries, which speaks volumes about his ability to perform under pressure.
In the 2017 edition, Kohli donned the captain's hat for the first time in an ICC event and led India to the finals.
