1998: India reach semis in the inaugural edition
In the inaugural edition, India made it to the semis after beating Australia in their first match.
Notably, the tournament was called the Knock-out Trophy back then as seven teams including India were directly awarded a berth in the quarter-finals.
The Men in Blue beat the Aussies in the quarters thanks to Sachin Tendulkar's all-round heroics.

Tendulkar made a fiery 128-ball 141 as India posted 307/8 while batting first in Dhaka. Ajay Jadeja (71 off 65 balls) also tormented the Aussie bowlers that day.
Australia started off their chase well thanks to Mark Waugh's 74. However, a sudden collapse meant the team went from 145/1 to 263/10,
Tendulkar ran through their batting order with a four-wicket haul as India won by 44 runs.
