Elgar equals world record in 3rd Test against Australia
South African opening batsman Dean Elgar found himself in the record books of Test cricket after equaling the record of carrying his bat through out an innings. The southpaw became the 2nd batsman in Test cricket to carry his bat through a completed innings, on three separate occasions. His unbeaten 141 against Australia helped him equal former West Indies legend Desmond Hayne's record.
Elgar in a zone of elite
Elgar's 141* against Australia, on Day 2 of 3rd Test, moved him in an elite zone. In 48 Test matches, Elgar has carried his bat thrice. He has shown the character needed in the longest format of the game. Haynes had achieved the same in a period between 1986-1993. Elgar has scripted this feat twice already in the last four Tests he has played.
Stat attack: Dean Elgar
He is the only South African to carry his bat multiple times. Elgar is the third batsman to remain unbeaten through a completed innings against Australia since 1980. The last player to achieve the same against Aussies was Alastair Cook (244*) in Ashes 2017-18.
