DD beat KKR by 55 runs, here are records broken
Delhi Daredevils beat Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 26 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. The hosts produced a stellar batting display led by skipper Shreyas Iyer (93*) to post 219 after being sent to bat by KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik. In reply, KKR were jolted after losing three quick wickets and suffered a big loss. Here are the records broken.
KKR lost the plot in last 4 overs
Kolkata Knight Riders gave away a whopping 92 runs in the final six overs, which are the most runs conceded by them in IPL 2018. Interestingly, 76 runs were scored in the final four overs. Shivam Mavi gave away 29 runs in the final over of the innings. That is the most runs conceded by a bowler in a single-over in this 2018 edition.
Shreyas Iyer in a zone of his own
This was Shreyas Iyer's third consecutive fifty in IPL11. He is averaging an emphatic 61.00. Iyer also became only the fourth batsman to make a 50+ score in IPL in the first match as the captain. His 93* is also the highest score by a debut captain in IPL. This was also Iyer's second highest score of his IPL career. His best is 96.
Young Prithvi Shaw dazzles at home
India U-19 World Cup winning captain Prithvi Shaw became the joint-youngest player to hit a 50+ score in IPL history. He achieved the feat at the age of 18 years and 169 days. Sanju Samson had registered the same in 2013.
Stat attack - Delhi Daredevils
Iyer and Shaw's blitz helped the Daredevils get to their second highest score ever in the IPL. Their previous highest was 231/4 against KXIP in 2011. This was the 21st meeting between these two sides in IPL and Delhi registered their 8th victory. This was Delhi's second victory against KKR in the last nine meetings between the two sides.
Boult the new Purple Cap holder and other stats
Kiwi left-arm pacer Trent Boult overtook Mayank Markande to become the new Purple Cap holder. He has 11 wickets in seven matches for the Daredevils. Iyer's 10 sixes in the innings was the second best this IPL. Chris Gayle and Andre Russell (11) have the most maximums. Russell equaled Gayle and AB de Villiers with the most sixes hit in IPL 2018 (23).
